A major part of any decision to hire a moving company lies in the research that you do. Once budget and logistics has been determined then the next step is to find a reputable moving agent to transport your belongings.
Inquire of all the agents that are central to you, the first thing you want to know is the price. Have them give you a quote….does it seem abnormally high (shun outfits that quote your estimate way too low)?, does it come with a price cap guarantee included in the contract?
Show Me Your License
Are they licensed, bonded and insured? Accidents happen. Even with the best intentioned and experienced moving teams things do occasionally go wrong. Insurance my be the only way that you will be compensated in the event of any damage or loss.
How long has the company been in business? If the receptionist acts a little fidgety when you ask the owner’s name then thank her for her time and excuse yourself. Ask to see their moving license. If they balk at all on this one leave their office immediately.
Ask them what makes them stand out from their competitors. A solid organizations should be able to give you a minimum of 3 positive reasons why you should choose them over the others. Don’t deal with moving companies that resort to dragging their competitor’s name through the mud. These people simply have nothing good to say about themselves.
Ask if they provide packing materials and supplies. Most legitimate services will pack, ship and unload your household goods for you, this will cost extra and the more you can do on your own will save you money but the option is there if you choose to. As you leave reflect on if the employees seemed knowledgeable and confident in their answers. A professional attitude goes a long way to instill trust in a customer.
